The plus side is that the comic book/geek world is constantly changing as well and comic business don’t need to just sell comics anymore.
Comics are a form of print and as you are probably aware print isn’t the most lucrative business right now.
Due to the fact a lot of forms of media are digital now a lot of businesses that provide physical means of entertainment have had to adjust their business models. While we have been around for more than 2 decades we have had to constantly evolve with the changes in commerce as well as culture. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you? – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. A year ago around October I met Gaston and asked if he would want to work together and then we became business partners and I became part owner. Ever since I could drive I would go every day after school under the false pretense to my parents that I was going to after school tutoring. Not only does it provide comics and collectibles, but it is a free thinking, creative environment that encourages involvement and the means to express yourself. One of Meltdown’s best qualities is it’s an incubation system. I have been going to this establishment since I was a child. Meltdown Comics has been in Los Angeles since 1993 and is run by Gaston Dominguez. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there. Thanks for sharing your story with us Jamie.
